You were halfway through a book you'd started last week, when a loud clatter broke through the peaceful quiet that had settled in the bunker. Your heart just about jumped out of your chest as you jumped off the couch, pulling your gun off of the coffee table and clicking off the safety.

"Son of a bitch!" An unexpected gruff voice hesitantly swore from the kitchen, followed by a quiet gasp, then a series of grumbles. You sighed, putting the safety back on and holstering your gun as you made your way to the kitchen. As you entered the doorway, surprise and confusion flooded through your head at who stood, covered from head to toe in flour and brown sugar, in the middle of the kitchen.

At first you didn't recognize him in just a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up, but you soon spotted his missing accessories strewn across the back of a chair. He looked naked without his tan trench coat and blue tie fastened loosely around his neck, but those bright blue eyes and messy raven black (although now it was white from flour) hair were unmistakeable.

"Cas, what the hell are you doing? And when did you start using that language?" You crossed your arms, waiting for an answer. Cas looked up at you in surprise from his past position, hands on his hips and pouting at the mess on the floor.

"Uh, Y/N, I was not aware you were here today. I assumed you were out with Dean and Sam at the bar," he licked his lips nervously.

You chuckled awkwardly. "Um, no, I didn't feel like spending my Friday night at some dirty, loud bar full of drunks. I was reading in the other room. You didn't answer my question, Cas. Whatcha doing?"

Cas looked down shyly. "Dean has been… a bad influence on my vocabulary as of late. I should not have used such crude language, but I was in a fit of frustration and I remembered how Dean usually curses during moments of intense emotion. Statistics also say that swearing when upset can help relieve your emotional distress." You chuckled warmly.

"It's okay, Cas. I've just never heard you curse before. And, um, now the more relevant question, what are you doing in here?"

Cas looked back up at you, a soft blush tainting his cheeks. "I was… trying to make a pie. The odds were not in my favour, however." Damn Hunger Games.

"I can see that. Why are you making pie? Dean probably got himself one from the store, anyway." You made your way to the broom leaning against the wall and started sweeping up the mess.

"This is not for him. Dean said that the way to any woman's heart is through diamonds or her comfort food. As my grace is still too weak to gather the power to crush coal into a diamond, I decided for the latter."

Your heart dropped. "So, who's the lucky gal?" You kept your eyes on the task at hand, gathering the flour and brown sugar into a pile with your broom. "Do I know her?"

Cas was silent for a moment, then he spoke quietly. "Well, you should. If not, you may have a head injury."

You chuckled softly. "Well, no one comes to mind. Describe her to me." You busied yourself with sweeping, and didn't notice the way Cas looked at you in confusion, then with loving admiration.

"Well, she has, um, beautiful big E/C eyes. I could get lost in them for an eternity, if I was able. There are none other like them. Her breathtaking long H/C hair makes me want to run my fingers through it every time I see her. She has a delicate set of freckles that seem to dance across her nose when she laughs. And her laugh, her laugh is so beautiful, it is like a siren's call to a sailor on a stormy sea. I would give my life to hear her soft chuckle just one more time. Always just, one more time. Her smile is more beautiful and breathtaking than a Leonardo DaVinci masterpiece.

"The thing I love most about her, however, is not on the outside, although she is perfection, inside and out. Her heart glows brighter than the sun, and her soul is radiant with love and compassion. There is no one like her, and I have been on this Earth for many millennia. I would give anything to have her in my arms, yet I believe I am not seen in the same way in her eyes. To her, I must be simply a fallen angel, lost and troubled. I am nothing more than a good friend, family. I do not want to believe it, but I know that is the only way she could ever see a broken person like me. I am not good enough for her. I do not think anyone truly deserves someone as good and pure as her, but something tells me she does not believe that.

"I have seen the battle that goes on in her head. She thinks the is less than she truly is, that she is damaged goods, a broken mirror reflecting all her flaws. She does not understand how wrong she is, and that pains me more than any torture I have or could ever endure in my existence."

You didn't know if you were crying because of how beautiful his description was, or because this girl he had described in such love and admiration was not you. You quickly wiped away the tears. "Um, wow, Cas, that was beautiful. She's really lucky to have someone like you." You finished sweeping up the mess on the floor, and washed your hands. "Can I, uh, can I help you with this? You seemed a little lost. Now, what kind of pie does she like?"

Cas looked at you with confusion, tilting his head to the side. "Or… did you want to make her a cake instead?" You asked, unsure of why he looked so upset now. You swallowed, smiling casually, and ruffled the flour from his hair. You then walked across the kitchen and pulled a cookbook from the baking cabinet. You flipped through until you found the pastry section. "Cas? I need to know what we're making, bud."

"Oh, um, her favorite is apple caramel pie." You froze. This bitch had Cas wrapped around her pinky finger AND she stole your favorite kind of pie? Now this was getting annoying. Really? She couldn't like just normal apple pie? Apple caramel was your thing.

You pushed away your flare of jealousy and anger, nodding calmly. "Alright, well that's my favorite pie, too, so we won't need the cookbook. I know the recipe by heart. Can you get out a large bowl, please? It's under the counter."

***

The oven beeped, signaling that the pie was done cooking. You slipped on your oven mitts and pulled it out, groaning at how good it smelled. You places it on the stove to cool off, and turned off the oven. You and Cas began cleaning the kitchen.

"So, the pie will need a while to cool off before you can take it, but I know she'll love it. My pies are to die for, at least that's what Dean tells me. Especially my apple caramel pie." You placed the dishes in the sink to wash later, but you filled the mixing bowl with warm water and soap to soak it.

It had been about ten minutes since you took out the pie, so it should have been cool enough to put in a container. You put the pie in a box you had kept from the last time Dean brought a pie back from the bakery, and handed it to Cas.

"Here, you can bring this to her tomorrow. It's too late to go to her house now; she's probably sleeping." You smiled as realistically as you could, and Cas smiled sadly to you. You looked at him in confusion; why did he look so sad? "You know, I don't think you told me her name."

He took the box, and looked down at it thoughtfully. "She is not asleep," he said quietly, dismissing your last comment. He extended the box back to you. "Here, Y/N, this is for you." You look at him in confusion.

"No, Cas, you're supposed to give it to your girl."

Cas shook his head. "This girl is very unique. Her favorite pie is apple caramel, which is unusual, as most people tend to be content with regular apple. She enjoys watching films in the genres of romantic comedy and horror, but when she watches the latter, she has nightmares at night. That is when she tends to pray to me, and we spend the night wrapped in each other's arms. That is my favorite time of day," he smiles absentmindedly. "She enjoys to wear sweaters with unique designs on them, and Dean calls them her 'Gina sweaters', although I do not understand that reference. He says it is from a television show about a 99th Brooklyn, which is terribly geographically inaccurate. She prefers to read a book on a Friday night rather than go out to a bar, and she helps in any way she can, even if she believes it is not for her benefit. Her name is Y/N L/N, and I seem to have unexpectedly fallen in love with her."

You were too shaken with shock and disbelief to acknowledge Cas holding the pie out to you again. "This pie is for you, Y/N."

You finally choked out a response. "R-really? Me? That's the girl?"

"Of course, who else would it be?"

"Um, ANYONE else? I mean, really, anyone."

"Why would you think that, Y/N?" Cas looked at you sadly.

You looked down shyly. "I don't know, I just never thought I was your type."

"Someone as strong, beautiful and kind as you believed I would not love you? Y/N perhaps I was right earlier. You may have a head injury." You laughed softly, and Cas closed his eyes, smiling softly. "It is true, Y/N. All of it. I love you. I-I do not expect a response of reciprocation, but I wish you to know how I feel."

You looked at Cas, tears welling up in your eyes. Cas' expression turned serious immediately. "Y/N, what is wrong, are you hurt?" You smiled, shaking your head.

"No, Cas. It's just, I love you too." Cas smiled softly, and slowly leaned forward. He paused for a moment, hesitant.

"I apologize, I forget what Dean told me to do in this situation. May I, um…" Flicking his eyes to your lips shyly, you smiled, nodding. You snaked a hand around Cas' neck pulling him gently to you. His chapped lips brushed against yours, and Cas stayed still, looking into your eyes awkwardly. You smiled against his lips, letting him know he can move his.

The kiss lasted only a moment, but it felt like forever as fireworks exploded behind your eyelids. You pulled away slowly, resting your forehead against his.

"Thanks for the pie."
